Bu konuda iki şeyi karşılaştırmayı öğreniyoruz. İki şey karşılaştırılırken comparative (sıfat + -er + than ya da more + sıfat + than), üç ve daha fazlası arasından biri seçilirken superlative (the + sıfat + -est ya da the most + sıfat) kullanılır. Bazı sıfatlar düzensizdir.

Yaygın sıfatlar: big-small, long-short, old-new, cheap-expensive, quiet-noisy, clean-dirty, near-far, crowded (kalabalık), modern.
