Çok önemli: telefonda "I am ..." denmez.

Telefonda kendini tanıtırken This is ... ya da It's ... kullanılır; I am ... yüz yüze tanışmada kullanılır.

🧩 Örnekle anlayalım

a) "hold on", "put somebody through", "engaged" ve "hang up" ne demektir?
b) Telefonda kendini tanıtırken niçin "I am ..." denmez?

Dikkat: hang on beklemek, hang up ise kapatmak demektir. Yalnız bir edat değişiyor ama anlam tersine dönüyor.

Niçin böyle? Çünkü telefonda karşı taraf sizi görmez; this sözcüğü "buradaki ses" anlamında kullanılır. Bu, İngilizcenin yerleşik bir telefon geleneğidir.

Karşı tarafın kim olduğunu sormanın kibar yolları:

Who are you? telefonda kaba sayılır.

c) put ... through yapısında nesne araya girer

Doğrusu: I'll put you through.

Bazı fiil öbeklerinde nesne fiille edat arasına girer. Özellikle nesne bir kişi adılı ise (me, you, him, her, us, them) araya girmek zorundadır.

Nesne bir ad ise iki biçim de olur:

Nesne almayan öbekler ise bölünmez:

Özet: put through, call back ve pick up nesne alır ve bölünebilir; hold on, hang up ve get through nesnesizdir.

⚠️ Sık yapılan hatalar

Telefonda This is ... denir, "I am ..." denmez.
hang on beklemek, hang up kapatmak demektir.
Kişi adılı put ... through ve call ... back öbeklerinde araya girer.
Who are you? telefonda kaba sayılır; Who's calling? denir.

💡 Aklında kalsın: Bu konuda telefon dili anlatılır. Fiiller dial numara çevirmek, call aramak, pick up açmak, hang up kapatmak, hold on ve hang on beklemek, put somebody through bağlamak, get through hatta ulaşmak, call back geri aramak, cut off hattın kesilmesi, leave a message mesaj bırakmak ve take a message mesaj almaktır. hang on beklemek, hang up ise kapatmak demektir. Durum sözcükleri engaged ve busy meşgul, available müsait, line hat, extension dahilî numara, memo not ve wrong number yanlış numaradır. Telefonda kendini tanıtırken This is ya da It's kullanılır, I am kullanılmaz; karşı tarafa Who's calling please ya da Who am I speaking to denir, Who are you kaba sayılır. put somebody through ve call somebody back öbeklerinde kişi adılı araya girer. Kötü haber I'm afraid ile, rica Could ile, teklif Would you like ile kibarlaştırılır.
