Dolaylı anlatımda zaman bir adım geriye gider.
tell kişiyi ister, say istemez: he told me, he said that.
Dolaylı soruda soru sıralaması bozulur: asked where he was.

💡 Aklında kalsın: Bu konuda mesaj bırakma ve mesaj alma öğretilir. Telefona bakan Can I take a message, Would you like to leave a message ve I'll give him the message kalıplarını; arayan Can I leave a message, Could you tell him that ve Could you ask her to call me back kalıplarını kullanır. Bir mesajda kimden, kime, ne zaman, konu, istek ve numara bulunur. Mesaj yazılırken dolaylı anlatım kullanılır ve zaman bir adım geriye gider: am ve is was olur, V1 V2 olur, V2 had + V3 olur, will would olur, can could olur, must had to olur. Adıllar ve zaman belirteçleri de değişir: tomorrow the next day, yesterday the day before, now then olur. tell kişiyi ister, say istemez: he told me that ve he said that doğrudur.
